Morus Silk AKA Pearsall’s Gossamer

Pearsall’s originally created the first standardized fly tying silk with the introduction of Pearsall's Gossamer. This well known thread has been the standard for tying wet flies also known as spiders and for rod building. 

After Pearsall’s closed, the gossamer was produced by Langley silk. When Langley Silk decided to retire they sold the business to Langley Threads who rebranded the silk to Morus and used its knowledge of silk and custom dying processes and industry experience to make Gossamer in its original colors and quality.

Unfortunately due to the Covid pandemic the silk was unavailable for a few years. 

The Morus Gossamer silk is spooled on the same small 45m bobbins that have become signature to this thread. All of the original colors from Pearsall’s have become available and were reintroduced to the market.

There are also many other shades available outside the range of colors that were regularly used for fly-tying since the same silk has also been used for embroidery.
